Well connected for Business
The Toowoomba Enterprise Hub (TEH) is one of the most significant transport, logistics and business hubs in Australia, offering the synergy of a central location encompassing an internationally capable airport as well as major multi-modal freight facilities with more than 2000 hectares of industrial land on the western outskirts of Toowoomba.
Toowoomba Enterprise Hub has three major stakeholders, each adding their own unique capabilities to the greenfield site developments.
The Wellcamp Airport and Wellcamp Business Park- Wellcamp Airport (WTB) is located 17km west of the Toowoomba CBD and is serviced by Qantas, Airnorth and Regional Express; collectively offering over 80 passenger services per week between Toowoomba and Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Townsville and Western Queensland.
Constructed over 19 months from 2012-2014, Wellcamp Airport is the first major greenfield public airport development in Australia in over 50 years, and the first privately funded airport in the country. This world class piece of economic infrastructure features a runway that is 2870m long and 45m wide, making it capable of handling large jet aircraft, such as the Boeing 747-8. The airport operates as an international cargo hub connecting Australia’s leading primary producers and processors with growing consumer markets across the globe through weekly scheduled cargo departures to Hong Kong.
InterLinkSQ is a fully approved Intermodal Terminal, Rail Precinct, and Industrial Park covering 200 hectares that is currently under construction. It features frontage to the current Regional Western Rail Line and the Inland Rail route and is strategically positioned at the junction of major national highways – the Warrego, New England and Gore with links to the Newell Highway.
Witmack Industry Park and Charlton Logistics Park both offer large size industrial land parcels that will suit individual business requirements. Located in a prime strategic location approximately 15km West of the Toowoomba CBD, both ‘Witmack Industry Park’ and ‘Charlton Logistics Park’ feature road-train access and are open for operation - with a number of businesses already experiencing the significant competitive advantages of being located in Queensland’s Business Gateway.
AGRICULTURE
The Darling Downs and Lockyer Valley is the country’s food bowl, with entrepreneurial producers looking to expand their operations internationally with the help of TEH to capitalise on the growing Asian middle-class looking for our clean and green products.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Toowoomba Regional Council area is the second most productive food region in Australia
- The Western Downs is the seventh most productive area, and is home to a diverse mix of renewable energy projects
- Four hours west of Toowoomba, the town of Roma has the largest cattle saleyards in the Southern Hemisphere
- The Southern Downs (Stanthorpe and Warwick) is home to fruit and wine
- The Lockyer Valley is 30 minutes by road and is home to some of Australia’s best small crop production
But it is not just agriculture; Toowoomba is now widely recognised as the Well Drilling and Servicing Hub for onshore gas in Australia. We estimate that approximately 60 companies have chosen to locate themselves in Toowoomba to take advantage of the growth, development and opportunities available in the region.
Toowoomba has many advantages for companies considering a new location with a lower cost of living and doing business compared to the capital cities, our nation leading infrastructure projects, our state-of-the art health and award-winning education sectors, and capital city lifestyle mixed with country charm.
